9.03.97 First it was the FBI's, and now its NASA's turn to be pirated by a jailed-hackers defense group. That proves that no security system is perfect! In the face of the mass hysteria (it's amazing how much people are afraid of hackers), let's face it up to now, and in the midst of all the violence around us, HACKERS HAVE NEVER HURT ANYONE! Remember this was just a hack of the NASA's site which is known for its exemplary sharing of information with the public; and was not a pirating of its installations. In fact, the Hagis group just replaced the NASA's official homepage with a text denouncing the repression endured by people like Kevin Mitnich, Bernie S and lots of other hackers. Mitnick who never acted violently, was imprisoned two years ago without even being judged and was kept in isolation as if he was a dangerous criminal. France is not innocent either: they just sentenced Anthony Phrantic for a crime, which is more of an imposture, when he presented himself as being a member of the FBI. Nirvanet is certainly not an advocate of hacking, especially as more and more of the hackers are industrial spies or different kinds of cops. However we are sensitive to the real hackers� arguments, those who fight against the soaring power that comes with an institutions or multinationals (that nobody controls) technological monopoly. We also try to avoid just "talking about" hackers like the rest of the media who are often ignorant and influenced by the power structure. We choose to let hackers speak for themselves.
